About

Nikola Tesla (10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was far from an ordinary man. A visionary, unsurpassed genius, creator of the 21st century – these are just some of the epithets that are used to depict the life and work of, probably, the greatest scientist of all time. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current electricity supply system. He was a prolific scientist and during his lifetime he produced many patents for inventions that changed our world. One hundred and sixty-five years later, the jubilee anniversary of the birth of a scientist who is said to have "invented the 20th century" is being celebrated all over the world. In 2006, UNESCO declared the year of Nikola Tesla. Symposia and conferences in honor of Tesla are held in New York, Belgrade, Zagreb and other cities around the world. In some American countries, July 10 has been declared Nikola Tesla Day. Monuments to the famous inventor are being erected, the buildings bear his name. This date, starting in 2002, was marked in Serbia as Nikola Tesla Day, and the Government of Serbia declared Nikola Tesla's birthday in 2010 as Science Day.
