Pareidolia - Faces of Stara Planina

The exhibition presents photographs of tree barks captured by Sosa during his stays in the Stara Planina area. Artworks are arranged in three visual and chromatic segments, each photograph focusing on individual detail, framed expertly to allow many different interpretations. Mysterious mythical creatures emerge from brown-toned textures and alternate with warm nuances of the light tree bark, only to insinuate their faces. Human interventions, discernible in the form of intensely colored elements, create surreal landscapes that unambiguously represent the modern man’s relationship with Nature. Displayed photographs depict a tree as Axis Mundi, as well as a symbol of growth and renewal, whose bark offers protection and revives faces of ancient forest deities.
