The Triumph of Human Stupidity
VR Exhibition
War Hotspots 2023
About
We live in a dangerous world, civil wars, drug wars, ethnic violence, massive unpunished sexual violence against women and children, terrorist attacks and political violence. This is the pain the world is in today. Since 1995, war is back on European soil, and the Russo-Ukrainian war has so far claimed more than 350 000 victims. Soldiers experience war differently from civilians. Although both suffer in times of war, it is mainly women and children who suffer atrocities. In the last decade, up to two million children have been killed in armed conflicts around the world. Currently, two billion people live in conflict-affected areas. Can we even imagine the scale and depth of this immense field of pain? With The triumph of human stupidity project, we wanted to draw attention to and identify some of the current hotspots of war in the world and the consequences that these conflicts bring to people; not only those in the theatres of conflict, but also to those of us who otherwise live in peace.
