The exhibition Traces represents an effort to map the activities of the individuals and institutions in Serbia and France regarding graffiti culture and street art and their potential mutual influences. This story is complex and there is not always precise information or adequate materials to document some of these visual and intellectual exchanges. But, at the same time, these exchanges can take some unexpected turns. France’s global cultural influence is quite obvious in the Serbian scene, but it seems that some Serbian fresh ideas and energy are eagerly being welcomed in France. While personal exchanges between artists in Serbia and France are almost constantly present but quite invisible, institutional exchange is long-lasting and obvious. Having this in mind, this exhibition space will serve as a visual aid to organise these influences in structured and understandable ways.
