The negative effects of animals in the exotic pet trade and how it plays a role in introducing invasive species. Trading/selling exotic animals negatively affects ecosystems and also poses a risk to native animals if the exotic animals are released into an environment that is not natively theirs. Animal rights have always been important to me and I wanted to show how critical of an issue this is, even if it doesn’t seem to directly affect everyone every day. My goal for the exhibit and final book was to provide a deeper understanding of the illegal exotic pet trade and why people should care, all while showing my process. The clock aimed to visually represent the amount of animals that die in transit and leave a lasting visual with visitors.
