For Jacky Tsai, "Bitcoin - Buddha, Venus and Guan Yu" serves more than a visually pleasing digital art work. It is also a bold exploration of how traditional Chinese artistic styles can be re-bloomed into the international contemporary context. In his works, Tsai skillfully conceals the three classical Chinese and Western mythological images: Buddha, Venus and Guan Yu, and presents them in the traditional Chinese painting by "Dali Aesthetics". The images change simultaneity according to the bitcoins value in the exchange market. From Tsai’s point of view, Venus symbolises stability (silence); Guan Yu represents upsurge (boldness); Buddha signifies impermanence (Buddhism). They all correspond to the cryptocurrency market and the ups and downs in our lives. The viewers are able to search for cultural images in the work which implicate the current market environment and one’s situation.
