Biography
Edson Manuel Rabí Ulacia (Aguada de Pasajeros, Cienfuegos, Cuba, September 21, 2001) is a visual artist trained at the “Benny Moré” Academy of Visual Arts in Cienfuegos, where he earned a Technical Degree in Visual Arts in 2021. Since then, he has developed a remarkable artistic career, with both solo and group exhibitions in nationally significant venues, including the Havana Biennial and galleries in Havana and Cienfuegos. His first solo exhibition, Tributo (2021), was held at the “Benny Moré” Academy of Visual Arts. In group settings, he has participated in events such as the 15th Havana Biennial with Beyond the Shell (2024), as well as exhibitions at the ARTHAUS Residency and the Faculty of Visual Arts at ISA. Since 2018, his work has been featured in notable spaces like Pabellón Cuba and the University of the Arts (ISA), solidifying his presence within the Cuban art scene. Rabí Ulacia has also ventured into set design and theatrical lighting, collaborating on productions such as Las aguas del regreso (2024) and Casa con Alas (2022), directed by Roberto Nilo Sánchez. He has participated in major national artistic events, including the ISA Arts Festival and gatherings organized by the CAIM of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) in various provinces across the country. His education has been enhanced by specialized courses, such as Dynamic Image Creation, part of UNESCO's Transcultura program (2024), along with workshops in artwork installation and caricature. With a continuously evolving career, his work reflects a strong commitment to visual arts and experimentation across diverse media.
